Final Illustrations

Here are my final illustrations for my self directed brief. A Native American chief, a Geisha and an African tribesman. They are A6 format, digitally printed on to water colour paper. I am pleased with them, I do wish I managed to do more however. I plan to carry this project on beyond the module deadline and complete all six illustrations to sell at the next InPress event in a months time.

Original sketches...

I live traced the images on Illustrator, which managed to pick up all of the details really nicely. I then thickened the lines up a bit to give the images more depth.

Image... Progress

I have started to ink in the details of my Native American Chief illustration. I am really pleased with how it has come out and I feel that it is more like what I originally wanted to produce in comparison to my original drawing.

Image.. Change of direction

I decided that I was not entirely happy with my initial sketches for my Native American illustration, so I started again. I kept the general composition the same, but I tried to add more detail and make it a little less geometric looking. The main difference is in the face, which I have made more realistic, I feel that this has given the drawing more personality and I am far happier with it.

Starting this illustration from scratch however has now slowed down my progress, so I am now going to aim on completing three or four finals before the module deadline. I feel that this is a more realistic goal.

Image... initial sketches

My initial sketches of my Native American illustration. I'm not sure on how it's going, there's a few things that I want to tweak to get a consistent style throughout all of my illustrations for this project.
